According to an announcement by the Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSİM), claims payments for wheat product have begun within the scope of District Based Draught Productivity Insurance.

Within the framework of District Based Draught Productivity Insurance which has received a great deal of attention by producers/farmers since the beginning of its initiation; wheats produced in dry areas can be insured against decreased productivity arising from draught, frost, hot winds, heat waves, extreme humidity, and excessive precipitation. In the scope of this insurance -where the State pays for 60 percent of policy premiums- producers have paid 8 million TL in premiums.

The announcement says that monitoring and productivity determination activities have been conducted in 2.178 villages of 409 districts in 66 cities for wheat produced in dry areas; and that the activities were completed for 250 districts while continuing for the rest of them:

“Monitoring activities were conducted for 6 different districts of Gaziantep; and as a result of evaluations and calculations decreased productivity was detected for Nizip, Oğuzeli and Yavuzeli due to draught. 254 thousand TL was paid as initial compensation for 62 District Based Draught Productivity Insurance policies issued in these three districts.”

Following the registration at Farmer Registration System or the update of their registration, producers can easily apply for this insurance to insure their wheats produced in dry areas through the agencies of certified insurance companies. As in other agricultural insurance lines, Draught Insurance does not require producers to make insurance claims. If the average productivity for a certain province is lower than the threshold productivity determined for that province in the policy, all insured producers in the province gain a right to receive payouts.”
