Number of BES participants reach 6 million 806 thousand
 

 

At the end of the second quarter of 2017, number of participants in Private Pension System (BES) reached 6 million 806 thousand, up by 6.79 percent over the same period of last year. Total fund size of the system expanded to 17 million 243 million USD, while the number of pensioners reached 55 thousand 303 people.

According to the statistics announced by Pension Monitoring Center (E.G.M) as of 23.06.2017, 180 thousand 313 new participants joined the system during the first half of the year. Total number of participants increased by 6.79 percent over the same period of last year, reaching 6 million 806 thousand people. At the end of Q2 2017, total fund size grew by 2.74 percent and expanded to 17 billion 243 million USD. Total number of people who became entitled to retirement increased to 55 thousand 303. (Growth rate in TL based figures was reported as 24.65 percent. The difference resulted from the exchange rate difference between two years. USD/TL parity=3,5116 on 23.06.2017 vs. USD/TL parity=2,8943 on 30.06.2016)

At the end of the first half of 2017, total volume of contributions reached 13 billion 620 thousand USD, with 7 million 994 thousand pension contracts. Total invested amount stood at 13 billion 423 million USD. 

“Garanti Emeklilik ve Hayat leads with 1 million 184 thousand participants; while AvivaSA Emeklilik ve Hayat dominates with 3 billion 356 thousand USD in fund size”

At the end of the second quarter of this year, Garanti Emeklilik ve Hayat closed the year as market leader in terms of number of participants with a share of 17.41 percent and 1 million 184 thousand participants. Anadolu Hayat ve Emeklilik followed as second with 1 million 133 thousand participants, which constituted 16.65 percent of all participants in the system. AvivaSa Emeklilik ve Hayat had 883 thousand 891 participants, making it the third company in the ranking with a share off 12.99 percent; followed by Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik with 779 thousand 903 participants and 11.46 percent market share, and Ziraat Hayat ve Emekilik with 550 thousand 31 participants and a share of 8.08 percent. Top 3 companies in the ranking accounted for 47.04 percent of all participants in the system; while the top 5 companies dominated the market with a share of 65.8 percent.  

In terms of fund size, AvivaSa Emeklilik ve Hayat closed the second quarter as the market leader. The company reported a fund volume of 3 billion 356 million USD and a market share of 19.46 percent. Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik ranked second with 3 billion 197 million USD, which accounted for 18.54 percent of the market funds. Garanti Emeklilik generated a fund volume of 2 billion 649 million USD with a market share of 15.37 percent; followed by Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik as the fourth company with a fund size of 2 billion 379 million USD and a market share of 13.80 percent, and Vakıf Emeklilik with a fund size of 1 billion 331 million USD and a market share of 7.72 percent. Total share of top three companies in total market funds equaled 53.37 percent, while the top five generated 74.90 percent of all funds.
