According to a statement by Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSİM), nearly 22 thousand policies were insured in Malatya for the apricot product. Final acceptance date for this product was 9 March.
The statement emphasized that apricot producers in Malatya showed a great deal of attention to agricultural insurance:
“We have witnessed the negative impacts of natural catastrophes and risks occurring in various regions of Turkey on agricultural activities since last December until the middle of January. Producers should make conscious moves against such situations as they cannot predict when or how strongly they will strike and buy agricultural insurance. Agriculture is such a critical field of activity that it should not be left up to chance. Thus, more than 113 thousand policies were issued for the ‘apricot’ product in Malatya since the launch of our System until the end of 2016; and over 1.3 million decares of lands were insured. Within this period, apricot producers paid 165 million TL in premiums, and were compensated for a total loss of 406 million TL. In 2017, nearly 22 thousand policies and 226 thousand decares of land were insured in Malatya for the apricot product, the acceptance of which ended on March 9.”
