Anadolu Sigorta attends Fintech Summit

Organized in İstanbul by the participation of finance and technology/innovation leaders of Turkey and Europe under the title of ‘Leadership at times of change’, Fintech Summit focused on the future of the finance sector which is changed by disruptive technologies and the era of competition. Anadolu Sigorta, creating a difference in the market with investments in digital insurance and innovative applications, was among the sponsors of the summit. Mehmet Abacı, Executive Vice President at Anadolu Sigorta, attended the summit as a speaker; and highlighted that recently, no topic was more popular than Fintech in the big old finance world. “In 1876, Graham Bell managed to make the first call. Exactly 75 years after that, telephone reached 50 million people. English scientist Maxwell invented radio waves in 1869, and Hertz in 1895. After that, radio reached 50 million people in 38 years. The pace of change will never be that slow again. We will never wait that much for any change. We all know and see that technology is now developing and changing very rapidly,” he said.

Abacı said Fintech was able to address the needs of customers better than the existing actors by using new technologies in the best possible way. “Therefore, it might have disruptive or seriously transforming impacts on finance sector. Fintech companies can offer new products and/or new business models in finance very swiftly and seriously challenge the traditional finance sector with the business models they create. In terms of providing servitized and productized solutions, Fintechs indisputable create values for the finance sector,” he said.

“We have undertaken a pioneer role with our investments in digital insurance and innovative applications”

Stating that Anadolu Sigorta is closely interested in new initiatives at the finance sector, Mehmet Abacı added as follows: “Anadolu Sigorta has allocated serious amount of resources in this area. A very significant part of our human resources and budget are allocated for our technological activities. We have undertaken a pioneer role with our investments in digital insurance and innovative applications. We continue to support technology-based ideas at İTÜ Çekirdek thanks to our cooperation with İTÜ ARI Teknokent. As one of the most popular topics of recent years, artificial intelligence has begun taking its place in insurance operations, too. Therefore, it has become one of our priority technological investment areas. Assistant Magnet has been one of the most striking applications in the area of innovative applications. Assistant Magnet is our new-generation technology product which allows you to benefit from Anadolu Sigorta’s house insurance assistance services without requiring you to login or download any applications on your mobile. Moreover, we also support Insurtech activities via our Heckathon event which is being organized for three years. Applications are already in progress for this year’s Heckathon, which will host innovative projects in the area of ‘Home IoT’.” Suat Oruç joined Generali Sigorta family in September 2019 as Chief Insurance Officer.
