MAPFRE Sigorta’s Green Office Movement receives two awards

 
 
As a company that undertakes active roles in environmental matters and conducts various projects in energy efficiency and climate change, MAPFRE Sigorta has won two awards on the international platform with practices and awareness studies conducted within the scope of its Green Office Movement, which was implemented in cooperation with World Wildlife Fund. The company was entitled to receive Honorable Mention at PR Daily’s Corporate Social Responsibility Awards in the Category of Green and Environmental Stewardship. MAPFRE Sigorta was also rewarded with a Bronze Stevie in the category of Internal Communication Campaigns at Stevie Awards.

Pınar Gökgöl Gümüş: We are creating a culture that complies with environmental sustainability

Pınar Gökgöl Gümüş, Corporate Communication Manager at MAPFRE Sigorta, gave information about the Green Office Movement. “We continue working on areas such as climate change, energy saving, and protecting environment; therefore, try to create a company culture that complies with environmental sustainability. We are also a part of WWF’s Green Office program which focuses on savings and improvement in offices. In this respect, we have developed many actions to reduce the use of paper, water, and electricity in our office. We have completely given up using plastic bottles. We have conducted a wide range of communication campaigns that encourage recycling or right way of using air-conditioning. We have raised significant amount of awareness in our colleagues and other stakeholders with recommendations that can be implemented both in the office and at home. We are really happy to receive two international awards with our Green Office Movement, and are further encouraged to work more rigorously in this field. Great responsibilities fall upon the shoulders of governments, companies and individuals for protection of the environment. And as MAPFRE Sigorta, we continue developing new projects to offer the best contribution we can,” she said; adding that MAPFRE adopts sustainable environmental policies with great responsibility and sensitivity in all the countries they operate.

Air conditioning levels decreased for one day, plastic use reduced

Within the scope of their award-winning Green Office applications, MAPFRE Sigorta conducts awareness activities all year round. The company has developed several projects to save paper, electricity, heat and water inside the office; guiding its employees to consume less in order to avoid waste. They have reduced the use of plastics and conducted communication campaigns to encourage recycling. One of the most striking activities to raise awareness within the scope of Green Office Movement was to decrease the level of air conditioning in February. During the day which was announced as the “Sweater Day”, the company saved 7 percent of heating energy and employees were encouraged to wear seasonally-appropriate clothing.
