“There are no small errors in traffic” Project, which is conducted by the Ministry of National Education and İstanbul Commerce University, was kicked off with a meeting organized at the Sütlüce Campus of İstanbul Commerce University. Minister of National Education attended the meeting and gave a speech.

Shell Turkey acts as the main sponsor for the project, which will be implemented at 110 schools in İstanbul for the first phase. Quick Sigorta is also among the sponsors; therefore, General Manager Ahmet Yaşar was one of the attendees of the kick-off meeting. Ahmet Yaşar underlined the importance of the project in a keynote speech. “It is highly important to instill traffic awareness in children at very early ages. Every year, thousands of our citizens die because of traffic accidents. That’s why it is very significant for us to be contributing to this project which is aimed for students.”

Within the scope of the project, several events and activities will be organized across Turkey to instill traffic awareness in students. The project aims to enhance the traffic knowledge of students via theater performances and games focusing on traffic. In his speech, Minister of National Education highlighted the importance of the project, while thanking all the organization that have participated in and supported the project works.

Prof. Dr. Yücel Oğurlu, President of Istanbul Commerce University, stated that Turkey ranked number one among European countries in terms of number of fatal traffic accidents and said nearly 90 percent of accidents resulted from driver faults. “Of course, it is pleasing to see that our people are now more sensitive about complying with traffic rules compared to the past, and that number of fatal accidents are constantly decreasing. However, the fact that number of traffic accidents is still very high has pushed us towards finding a solution for instilling traffic awareness as early as childhood. At that point, we cooperated with the Ministry of National Education and initiated our project,” he said.

Prof. Dr. Mustafa Ilıcalı, Manager of Transportation Systems Research Center at İstanbul Commerce University who took active part in planning the project, said on average 21 people died in traffic accidents every day. He added that traffic education was of vital importance in creating and instilling a permanent awareness and said: “This project is a project for Turkey which will include theater performances and mobile games in order to instill an awareness in our children. Throughout our project, we will teach children traffic rules by tactually and audio-visually, and at the end they will constantly warn their parents about traffic rules.”

Ahmet Yaşar, General Manager of Quick Sigorta, supported the project and said it was really important. “It is highly important to instill traffic awareness in children at very early ages. Every year, thousands of our citizens die because of traffic accidents. That’s why it is very significant for us to be contributing to this project which is aimed for students. We will also provide additional support with activities we will organize inside our company,” he added. “We will continue focusing on accurate risk selection, accurate pricing, high-quality services and profitability for the next term. Together with all our distribution channels, we will keep offering our services with the same quality to our customers all around Turkey, as always.”
