AXA Sigorta signs Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEP)

AXA Sigorta signed Women’s Empowerment Principles (WEPs), which were established by United Nations Global Compact and United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women.

By signing Women’s Empowerment Principles which act as a guide for organizations and institutions supporting women’s existence in every field and stage of life, AXA Sigorta has committed to further strengthen their dedication to ‘gender equality between company employees’ in light of those principles. The company has already focused on gender equality between their employees through various initiatives. AXA Group had signed WEPs in 2018 and integrated them in all its business processes, therefore they were already valid for AXA Turkey, as well. However, this signature means that AXA Sigorta has made them official in its organization. The company also invites all other companies to support United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and make a commitment to 7 steps of Women’s Empowerment Principles.

“As AXA Sigorta, we are proud to be one of the companies that signed Women's Empowerment Principles-WEPs, which were established by United Nations Global Compact. Gender equality is one of the most important values already adopted by our company. 52.2 percent of our employees are women; and we are very happy to be a company that supports equal rights for women in business life. Voice of women in the office is a strong one that does not only contribute to social equality but also to economic strength. We are determined to offer equal rights for women. We also support women-led businesses with our “Women Entrepreneurs Insurance” product and related services, and we will continue to do so. In order for future generations to be able to protect our world, embrace their future in a safe environment, and maintain an equal and just social structure; we make a promise to always support mothers, working women and the education of girls, adhering to the principles of equality of opportunities. We invite all companies to make a commitment to 7 steps of Women’s Empowerment Principles which constitute the basic instrument for corporate contributions towards the gender equality aspects of 2030 agenda and UN’s Sustainable Development Goals. Together, we can make a huge difference,” said Yavuz Ölken, CEO of AXA Sigorta.
