Aiming to support their customers for early diagnosis and treatment processes, Allianz Turkey initiated the ‘Health Support Program, Early Diagnosis Against Breast Cancer Project’. Allianz Turkey offers free mammography tests once a year in contracted institutions for women over 40 who own an Allianz Modular Health Insurance. For the first year of the project, Allianz Turkey aims to raise awareness about breast cancer in women over 40 who live in İstanbul and own an Allianz Modular Health Insurance Policy.

Within the scope of this project, Allianz aims to raise awareness in customers who are not aware of this coverage or who forget to get their mammography tests, driven by the fact that very few women in Turkey have a habit of getting regular mammography tests. Depending on the results of this project, Allianz aims to include other types of cancer screenings in the coverage, such as colon or prostate cancers.

One in every 8 women carry the risk

Pınar Oruç Lembet, Assistant General Manager of Health Insurance at Allianz Turkey, underlined that breast cancer was the number one cancer type seen in women, and added: “Brest cancer is responsible for 14 percent of the deaths due to cancer, and early diagnosis of this cancer type saves lives. The risk of a newborn baby girl getting breast cancer during her life is 12 percent. Every year, 1.4 million women are diagnosed with breast cancer.

Researches show that one in every 8 women carry the risk of getting breast cancer during their lifetime; while the risk is smaller for men. The risk of getting breast cancer increases as a person ages. Therefore, the meaningful age limit for regular doctor controls is between 40 and 50. People who are under risk should have medical examinations, mammography and ultrasonography tests every year after they reach 40. Those who do not carry breast cancer risk should get the same tests done every year after 45. Today, mammography is the most valuable screening test to diagnose breast cancer.”

In addition to these services, Allianz Turkey continues to stand by their customers with Moral Support Insurance specially developed against cancer disease. Moral Support Insurance provides a lump sum payment for cancer patients to use for their treatment costs and other needs within the policy period.
