MetLife Turkey to train primary and secondary school students on the spirit of saving and entrepreneurship

MetLife Emeklilik ve Hayat and Junior Achievement Foundation, two institutions working in cooperation with the aim of developing practical programs for career developments of high school students in our country since 2013, proceed with the ‘MetLife LifeChanger Project’ with great success. Within the scope of this project, MetLife Volunteers meet with young people in the Social Innovation Camp, where solutions are created for social problems, and for Meet-Up Projects as platforms to share experiences about careers. So far, MetLife Volunteers have provided mentorship support to more than 2600 students for over 1100 hours.

This year, MetLife Emeklilik ve Hayat and Junior Achievement Foundation have expanded the scope of their training programs and began to include primary and secondary school students as well. In accordance with this new scope, volunteers from MetLife Emeklilik ve Hayat have gone through intense trainings provided by the expert trainers of Junior Achievement Foundation for the new ‘Smart Money Management’ and ‘My Business’ programs. With two different programs which will take 6 weeks in total and different career meeting events, the cooperation aims to reach 600 students this year.

Deniz Yurtseven, General Manager of MetLife Turkey, stated that he was extremely happy to have initiated a new corporate social responsibility Project and said: “We have carried out many successful projects for high school students in cooperation with Junior Achievement Club and with the supports of MetLife Foundation since 2013. We have been organizing several activities and events to make sure that they become active members in their business lives. In accordance with our decision to expand our vision of investing in our future and contributing to the future of our country even further, this year, we will carry out special programs designed for all student groups from primary school to high school. That was the starting point of ‘Smart Money Management’ ND ‘My Business’ programs.”

Yurtseven added as follows: “Unfortunately, saving rates have not reached the desired levels yet. It is highly important to make sure that people embrace this awareness at early ages. With our new project, MetLife Volunteers will give Smart Money Management training to primary school students in their own classrooms with the aim of creating an awareness about the importance of saving and improving their financial literacy skills.  Secondary School students will get acquainted with the successful entrepreneurship examples from our country and around the world, while learning to develop business ideas, act with team spirit and design their dreams with My Business program.”
