According to an announcement by Agricultural Insurance Pool (TARSİM), the Pool has started issuing policies for 2018 and hazelnut producers were warned about buying and renewing their insurance policies as soon as possible.

The announcement underlined the importance of renewing/buying insurance policies for the “hazelnut” product without losing time; and reminded that farmers should first register at Farmers’ Registration System (ÇKS) and that they could easily buy their policies through the distribution channels of insurance companies which are certified to sell agricultural insurance.

The announcement said: “The frequency and severity of natural catastrophes and several other risks have constantly been increasing in our country - as much as other countries in the world - due to the climate changes caused by global warming. Accordingly, several risks and natural catastrophes that occurred in recent years have caused damages to many products, particularly hazelnut.

Therefore, TARSİM is the only assurance for producers that ensures uninterrupted production. Over 652 thousand insurance policies have been issued for the hazelnut product since the initiation of the system and until the end of 2017. In exchange for a premium volume of 136 million TL paid by hazelnut producers, TARSİM has paid over 148 million TL in compensation for their losses. Our producers should get their policies issued as soon as possible, so that they can avoid potential risks and secure their products.”
