Total volume of premiums written in Turkish insurance market increased by 7.55 percent at the end of 2017 compared to the end of 2016, reaching 12 billion 288 million USD. During this period, highest volume of premiums were written in liability branch with a share as in previous periods; while the highest growth rate belonged to life insurance.
According to the statistics announced by the Insurance Association of Turkey (T.S.B) at the end of 2017, total premium production grew by 7.55 percent over 2016 year-end, and reached 12 billion 288 million USD. From that volume, 10 billion 480 million TL was written in the non-life segment; while life insurance premiums stood at 1 billion 808 million USD.
Liability insurance closed the year as market leader by dominating the market with a share of 30.48 percent. Auto insurance lines took the second rank with a share of 15.58 percent; followed by the life insurance with 14.72 percent, fire and natural forces with 12.36 percent, and health insurance with 10.81 percent.
As of the end of 2017, highest growth rate belonged to the life insurance; followed by fire and natural forces, health insurance, marine, accident, auto lines, and liability lines.

Allianz Sigorta closed the year 2017 as the leader of insurance market with its total premium production standing at 1 billion 356 million USD and a market share of 11.04 percent.
Anadolu Anonim Türk Sigorta ranked second with a share of 10.05 percent and a premium volume of 1 billion 234 million USD. AXA Sigorta followed with a premium production of 768 million USD and a market share of 6.25 percent. Mapfre Sigorta preserved its fourth position among the top five, reaching a premium production of 708 million USD and a market share of 5.76 percent; followed by Aksigorta with a market share of 5.67 and premiums standing at 696 million USD. Top 3 of these companies generated 27.34 percent of total market premiums; while the top five had a dominance with 38.77 percent.
During this period, non-life companies that wrote the highest amount of premiums were listed as Allianz Sigorta, Anadolu Anonim Türk Sigorta Şirketi, AXA Sigorta, Mapfre Sigorta and Aksigorta, respectively. In life insurance, top five companies were Ziraat Hayat ve Emeklilik, Allianz Yaşam ve Emeklilik, Metlife Emeklilik ve Hayat, Anadolu Hayat Emeklilik, and Halk Hayat ve Emeklilik.
