Allianz Campus opens its doors in İzmir

 
 

Allianz Campus began its operations after a ceremony held on April 2017 as Allianz Turkey’s center of operations built in İzmir Gaziemir in accordance with the company’s growth estimations, and business continuity and sustainability approach. The opening ceremony was hosted by Aylin Somersan Coqui, CEO of Allianz Turkey. Binali Yıldırım, Prime Minister of Turkey; Jülide Sarıeroğlu, Minister of Labor and Social Security; Erol Ayyıldız, Governor of İzmir; Aziz Kocaoğlu, Mayor of İzmir; and Oliver Baete, CEO of Allianz Global gave speeches during the ceremony. Cansen Başaran-Symes, Chairman of Allianz Hayat ve Emeklilik, managers of Allianz Turkey, representatives from occupational associations, leading actors of the insurance market, business partners and Allianz Campus employees also participated

.

Aylin Somersan Coqui: “Pioneering the investments of insurance market is our duty”

Aylin Somersan Coqui, CEO of Allianz Turkey, gave the first speech as the host of the event and said: “With the responsibility of being the leader of Turkish insurance market, our duty is to pioneer the innovative investments. Allianz Campus, as a facility we constructed from the foundation, makes us happy to have moved our center of operations to the magnificent city of İzmir. I would like to express my endless and special thanks to our project team thanks to whom we were able to move to this campus in only one year, managers of Allianz Group and Alilanz Turkey who all took on the necessary responsibilities along this journey, our collogues who are open to innovation and have embraced the vision of our company by heart, our business partners, and our stakeholders.”

 

Oliver Baete: “We have full confidence in Turkey, Allianz Campus is an indicator of it.” 
Oliver Baete, Global CEO of Allianz Group, said: “When they ask me what Allianz Group will look like in 10 years, I tell them ‘Look at Allianz Turkey. It will be as agile, innovative and visionary as they are now’”. He added that they made their future plans according to their long-term projections and stated that they were happy to witness Turkey’s constantly growing economy. He said: “With our full confidence in this country’s strong growth potential, our investments in Turkey has reached 5 billion TL since 2008; and we are determined to continue along this path in the future. Allianz Campus that we are standing inside of is the strongest indicator of this intention.” 

 

Aziz Kocaoğlu: “Welcome Home”
Aziz Kocaoğlu, Mayor of İzmir, talked about Allianz’s investment in Turkey and said: “Allianz has a high ability of foresight and mobility; therefore I congratulate the managers who know where to invest in. They decided to do justice to Turkey’s shining star and felt the rise of this city before everybody else did. Everyone aches for living in this city; however, Allianz acted before everyone else and became a resident of İzmir. They believed in İzmir, they trusted in İzmir. They did good. Now we see Allianz Family as a ‘part of us’ and we say to them ‘Welcome Home!’”. 

 

Binali Yıldırım: “Anyone who contributes to the prosperity of İzmir is always more than welcome”
Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım stated that İzmir deserved the best of everything. He said anyone who contributed to the prosperity of İzmir were always more than welcome. Yıldırım thanked Allianz and global investors for choosing to invest in Turkey and added: “This is also a reflection of the old friendship between Turkey and Germany.” He told the story of how when he was proposed to participate in this ceremony, his friends hesitated to attend to the opening of a building, but he told them he would participate day or night if someone decided to provide employment opportunities to his fellow townsmen.

 

Allianz Turkey takes root in İzmir with monument olive tree

Following the planting of monumental olive tree, which represents Allianz’s century-old roots stretching out to İzmir, a “mapping” show that was performed to represent the stretching out of Allianz’s roots attracted great deal of attention from the participants. Yekta Kopan, one of the famous names of Allianz Motto Music; presented the ceremony; and famous band Mor ve Ötesi performed a special concert for the participants. Consisting of Allianz employees, Allianz Orchestra gave a pleasant performance during the ceremony under the conductorship of musician Can Şengün. Other concerts were given by the Jazz Band Tolga Bilgin Quintet and violin artist Ceren Aksan.

 

80 percent of 27 million EUR investment belongs to companies from Turkey
Allianz invested 27 million EUR in Allianz Campus, and worked with Turkish companies for 80 percent of this total amount. 75 percent of the operation center was constructed in cooperation with the companies and suppliers from the Aegean Region. 81 percent of 413 employees live in İzmir and neighboring areas; while 74 percent of them are new graduates. 210 Allianz employees moved to İzmir from all around Turkey to continue their duties in the new operation center. After Allianz Turkey’s Aegean Regional Management Office also moved into the Allianz Campus, Allianz Campus began its life with a total of 665 employees.

 

Center of new generation insurance and contemporary art

With a capacity of 1100 employees in total, Allianz Campus was designed as an environment and employee friendly place in accordance with sustainability principles using renewable energy sources. Like Allianz Head Office building, Allianz Campus also boasts a LEED Certificate; built on a land of 17 decares with green fields, open-air and indoor sports areas. With its state-of-the-art technological infrastructure and hardware features, Allianz Campus is a new generation smart building. As a company that supports contemporary arts and organizations such as İstanbul Modern and İstanbul Biennial, Allianz continues to make this contribution with its new operation center in İzmir. Artworks by Turkey’s young and talented artists meet with Allianz employees in the Campus. 10 pieces by Çağatay Odabaş, Ali Alışır, Evren Erol, Mehmet Gün, Serhat Kiraz and Utku Dervent including some works that were specially designed for Allianz are displayed throughout the campus.
