Hüseyin Duru, Chairman of the Insurance Committee at İstanbul Chamber of Commerce, and committee members visited Can Akın Çağlar, President of the Insurance Association of Turkey (TSB). During the visit, parties discussed and shared opinions on the problems and future of Turkish insurance market. The visit was held in a conversational atmosphere during which economic developments that directly impact the insurance market were also discussed.
Duru stated that they were very pleased with the visit and underlined that the meeting had a very sincere atmosphere. The parties agreed to meet and share opinions more frequently.
Other topics discussed during the visit included how to increase the profitability of insurance agents, increasing the diversity and popularity of compulsory insurance products while implementing necessary control mechanisms, and preventing the unjust competition between sales channels.
They also discussed the latest situation of the risky insurance pool which is planned to be founded to provide coverage for businesses that cannot be covered by insurance at the moment, increasing commission rates, issuing standardized agency policies, problem of issuing additional policies for agencies within the scope of the Law on the Protection of Personal Data, organization of promotional and advertising campaigns that will bring benefits to insurance market, conducting necessary activities to organize branch and basic insurance trainings for agents, and foundation of an insurance consultation-negotiation committee that includes the relevant stakeholders with the aim of resolving the problems of insurance market and enlarging the market size.
