Emre Buğday, Country President of Chubb Turkey, shared detailed information about marine insurance. Stating that financial losses that may occur during the transportation of commodities have great impacts on commercial activities depending on the developments in global trade, Emre Buğday said: “With marine insurance, a commodity is insured against damages and losses that may occur during to its transportation via maritime, road and airline transportation means within the scope of general and special conditions.”

Buğday also evaluated the developments in Turkey about marine insurance, and said that Turkey was a significant market for insurance companies with its geographical position and young population. He underlined that insurance market played a significant role in Turkish economy and added: “Insurance awareness has still not reached the desired levels in Turkey. A major part of the population is still uninsured. We need to determine the real requirement, offer products for that requirement and convey this to the end-users accurately. As the level of welfare increases in the country, attention for all insurance products including marine insurance will increase, as well. By nature, insurance is a market that develops slowly. We can say that Turkish insurance market continues to grow regularly and confidently.”
