Allianz Turkey includes all pandemics in the scope of health insurance policies

Having acted swiftly after COVID-19 breakout in Turkey, Allianz Turkey provided coverage for the treatment costs of COVID-19 patients, even though it was not included in the policy scope. The company takes this approach one step further, as it will continue to provide coverage for other pandemics that might breakout in the future.

Immediately after COVID-19 was declared a pandemic, Allianz Turkey decided to cover for the expenses of its 1.3 million policyholders in case they were treated for COVID-19, even though pandemic risks were excluded from health insurance policies. The company has now announced that they will add all pandemics in the scope of coverage for health insurance policies. Allianz Turkey has taken all the necessary measures and implemented them rapidly after the coronavirus was declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. The company will be providing coverage for treatment costs related to pandemics in the scope of their health insurance policies, depending on the coverage and limits provided by those policies.

Tolga Gürkan, CEO of Allianz Turkey, states that even though pandemics were excluded from health insurance policies, the company has been providing coverage for the treatment costs of policyholders who were diagnosed COVID-19 positive, since the first day of coronavirus outbreak in Turkey. Our job in the insurance business is based on foreseeing and managing the risks that might occur both in the short and long term. These hard times experienced by everyone in the world have once again shown us the value of our health and managing risks. Thanks to our robust financial and technical infrastructure and agile organization, we have been able to provide coverage for health risks of our policyholders as soon as the pandemic first broke out in Turkey. Now, once again, we say that ‘Allianz is With You’, and add pandemic risk in the scope of our health insurance policies. Therefore, we continue to guarantee the health of our policyholders,” he said.

Pandemic coverage will apply to Allianz Turkey’s existing 1.3 million health insurance policies, as well as new private and complementary health insurance policies (both individual and corporate group contracts) depending on the existing the policy conditions and limits. Necessary updates will be reflected on policy documents in the coming term.
