Allianz Teknik is Turkey’s first accredited earthquake and fire training center

Founded by Allianz with the aim of enhancing Turkey’s social risk awareness, Alilanz Teknik has received its accreditation form TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency); thus confirming the compatibility of all its tests with international and local standards. As a result, Allianz Teknik has been Turkey’s first accredited earthquake and fire training center.

Founded by Allianz Turkey with the aim of enhancing Turkey’s social risk awareness and within the scope of their sustainability strategy, Allianz Teknik has completed the accreditation process of TÜRKAK (Turkish Accreditation Agency) and received their accreditation status. The accreditation confirms the technical capability of Allianz Teknik’s laboratories, and the conformity of their tests with national and international testing standards in terms of accuracy, objectivity and confidentiality principles. Offering services with the aim of a society with high risk awareness and a sustainable future, Allianz Teknik has become Turkey’s first accredited earthquake and fire testing and training center. With its capability of doing accredited reaction-to-fire testing, Allianz Teknik has also become Allianz Group’s third testing and training center in the world. It is also the first testing center of the Group that offers services in earthquake and fire lines.

Founded in 2019 with an investment of 30 million TL, Allianz Teknik detects risks arising from natural catastrophes and runs earthquake, transportation and reaction-to-fire tests. Tolga Gürkan, Chief Executive Director of Allianz Turkey, stated that Allianz Teknik Earthquake and Fire Testing and Training Center was founded with the aim of creating social risk awareness for earthquake and fire risks –which are the two major risks in our country– and constructing safer buildings; thus creating a sustainable future. Gürkan reminded that Turkey was one of the top five countries in the category of natural catastrophes in Allianz Risk Barometer, global business risks research conducted annually by Allianz Group. “Earthquake and fire are among the top 10 risks faced by our country. The most significant step to be taken for such critical risks is to take precautions before the risk is realized. To achieve that, we need to increase both individual and corporate awareness. At Allianz Teknik, which was founded with the full support from Allianz Group, we have successfully been working towards fulfilling that need for over a year. With our accreditation, we have saved companies in Turkey from sending their products overseas just to get them tested against earthquakes. This is a significant opportunity for our national producers. At Allianz Teknik, we will keep organizing informatory and educational activities with scientific programs for children and young people, while carrying out awareness-raising activities against earthquakes and fires,” he said.

Goal is to help increase social risk awareness
Located inside the campus of Turkish – German University in Beykoz, İstanbul; Allianz Teknik continues to offer services in compliance with pandemic precautions with the aim of making a contribution to social risk awareness. Over the course of one year, Allianz Teknik hosted more than 2000 guests, tested 374 vehicle seats in addition to 24 hours of earthquake testing and 8 hours of reaction-to-fire testing. The institution organized 46 hours of practical training and provided 125 hours of consultancy services.
