The ''Insurance Meetings'' project organized by the Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB) to strengthen university–industry cooperation brought together students and sector representatives at Akdeniz Üniversitesi for its third stop.
The third event of the “Insurance Meetings at Universities with TSB” program, launched by the Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB), was held at Akdeniz University on Thursday, April 30, 2026. Within the scope of the program, students had the opportunity to meet leading figures from the insurance sector and gain comprehensive insights into the industry.
The event was attended by Ahmet Yaşar, President, Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB), Şükrü Özen, Vice Rector of Akdeniz Üniversitesi, Ender Güzeler, General Manager of Unico Sigorta, and Özgür Obalı, Secretary General of the Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB). The participants shared their evaluations regarding the current state and future of the insurance sector, as well as the career opportunities it offers to young people.
Ahmet Yaşar, President, Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB), emphasized that a people-oriented approach lies at the heart of the insurance sector, stating: “Insurance is not merely a financial activity; it is a strategic field that secures the future of individuals and institutions while strengthening social resilience. For this reason, the most important strength of our sector is human capital. The participation of our young people in the sector as individuals who can think analytically, adhere to ethical values, and focus on solutions is of critical importance for the sustainable growth of insurance. Through this strong connection we have established with universities, we aim both to improve young people’s perspective on the sector and to bring qualified human resources into our industry.”
Özgür Obalı, Secretary General of the Insurance Association of Türkiye (TSB), drew attention to the sector’s employment structure and the opportunities it offers to young people, stating: “The insurance sector has a dynamic and continuously evolving working structure that is open to young graduates from different disciplines. In recent years especially, we have taken significant steps to increase youth employment. Our internship programs allow young people to experience the sector firsthand and provide them with the opportunity to make a strong start to their career journeys. Our goal is to help students become familiar with the sector before they even graduate, develop their competencies, and contribute to their growth as individuals ready for professional life.”
Ender Güzeler, General Manager of Unico Sigorta, also addressed the sector’s digital transformation and investments in human resources, stating: “The insurance sector is one of the areas most rapidly affected by technological developments. While redefining customer experience through digitalization, we are making significant investments in fields such as data analytics and artificial intelligence. At the center of this transformation lies human capital. As a company, we attach great importance to discovering young talents at an early stage, investing in their development, and supporting their innovative perspectives. We believe that we will build the insurance industry of the future together with young people who are proficient in technology and open to change.”
Şükrü Özen, Vice Rector of Akdeniz Üniversitesi, also shared his evaluations regarding the opportunities universities provide to students and their contributions to career journeys, stating: “As a university, we not only provide academic knowledge, but also strongly support our students’ career journeys. Such events, which bring our students together with sector representatives, enable them to take more informed steps toward the future. Creating environments where our students can combine theoretical knowledge with practice, develop themselves, and clarify their career goals is among our top priorities.”
Through the “Insurance Meetings at Universities with TSB” program, the aim is to enable young people to become closely acquainted with the insurance sector, raise awareness in the fields of insurance and finance, and establish a strong bridge between academia and the industry. Within the scope of the program, students are also intended to gain direct insight into career opportunities within the sector.
