Türkiye Sigorta Highlights the Transformation of Agents at SAZ 2026 Insurance Intermediaries Summit

Türkiye Sigorta participated in both the opening session and the end-of-day evaluation panel of SAZ 2026 Insurance Intermediaries Summit, where the future of insurance distribution channels was discussed. In his speeches, Türkiye Sigorta Deputy General Manager Mehmet Turgay Özata highlighted the critical role of insurance intermediaries in the growth of the sector and the new responsibilities they undertake in response to changing customer expectations. Türkiye Sigorta, which was also the Day 1 sponsor of the summit, provided significant support to this important gathering.

Delivering the opening speech of the summit, Özata emphasized that trust lies at the core of insurance and stated that digitalization has not diminished the importance of intermediaries; on the contrary, it has further increased their significance. He noted that the strength of distribution channels must be accurately analyzed in order to expand insurance awareness and increase risk awareness, adding that the sector has a diverse and balanced ecosystem.

Stating that centralized sales management has an 11% share, the bancassurance channel has a 13% share, and brokers have a 17% share, Özata noted that agents continue to be the sector’s most important driving force with a market share exceeding 55%. Özata said, “This picture gives us a very clear message. Insurance is, above all, a business built on trust and human relationships.”

Hybrid Insurance Model Comes to the Fore

Stating that the insurance industry of the future will be built on a hybrid structure, Özata said that the integration of digital capabilities and advisory services is inevitable. Emphasizing that technology provides speed and efficiency, while the trust-based relationship established with customers is still strengthened through human interaction, Özata noted that the sector should embrace a human-centered digital transformation.

Stating that Türkiye Sigorta and Türkiye Hayat Emeklilik support distribution channels in line with this vision, Özata said that they are working to enhance agents’ digital capabilities while preserving the strong relationships they establish with their customers.

Taking part in the closing session of the day titled “Intermediation in the Transformation Process: Perspectives and Collective Insight,” Özata evaluated the topics discussed throughout the day together with Levent Korkut, President of TOBB SAİK, and Cenk Ecevit, President of the Insurance Brokers Association. During the session, digital transformation, changing customer expectations, the future of distribution channels, and the evolving role of insurance intermediaries were discussed, while the importance of all stakeholders acting in cooperation for the sustainable growth of the sector was emphasized.
