Working on social responsibility projects about social development, health, culture and road safety since 1975, Fundación MAPFRE continues to support projects conducted in those fields. Fundación MAPFRE opened the applications for Fundación MAPFRE Awards, which aims to highlight the social commitment of individuals, and institutions that contribute to the society in science, culture and humanities. This year, the organization will disburse 30 thousand EUR in each of the five achievement categories. Applications will continue until 1 March 2018.

Lifetime Achievement Award (José Manuel Martínez is entitled in recognition of someone who has led an exemplary professional life at the service of people and society. Distributed in the name of Jose Manuel Martínez, the Honarary Chairman of Fundación MAPFRE, this category will put a priority on the candidate's selfless contribution to his/her professional activity and the benefits that this has brought about for society.

Best Initiative in Social Action Award distinguishes the achievements of an individual or institution that has undertaken an outstanding and effective social initiative for the benefit of the most disadvantaged social groups, for the improvement of the integration and quality of life of the most disadvantaged social groups, helping them to overcome their physical, economic or social limitations.

Best Initiative of Health Promotion Award recognizes an action taken by an individual or entity to promote good health and improve people's quality of life; while the Best Initiative in Accident Prevention and Road Safety Award recognizes a significant contribution by individuals or institutions towards preventing and reducing accidents.

9th International Julio Castelo Matran Insurance Award is given in the name of MAPFRE’s former CEO and Chairman Julio Castelo Matran, who had significant contributions to the growth and development of the company. Researchers and institutions who have developed projects supporting the popularization of insurance in the society and helping economic stability by way of insurance/social security; in addition to other innovation projects supporting social security.
