According to the statistics by Turkish Catastrophic Insurance
Pool (TCIP/DASK), Compulsory earthquake insurance

has reached 8 million 825 thousand policies at the end of
2018. The result indicates that 50 percent of nearly 18
million houses have been insured against earthquakes. As
in previous years, rate of insurance is higher in higher-risk
seismic zones; but still stands as low as 4.62 percent for

buildings constructed before 1975.
