This town is as pleasant during the nights as it is during the days.
It is an ideal place to watch the sunset. You must definitely see
the Pole Rocks located in the Küçük Liman district. This ancient
pool, which used to serve as a private bath for Queen Amastris,
stands out with its marble pier and steps carved in the rock.
If you are interested in history, you should definitely see the Ar-
cheology Museum, which hosts artifacts and works from Roman,
Byzantine, Genoese, Seljukian and Ottoman civilizations. You
can have a picnic near Göldere Waterfall and Amasra Light-
house. There are nearly 120 caves located between Amasra and
Çakraz. You might find traces of ancient history in the Gürcüoluk
Cave as the most famous and popular one among them.
During summer, you can bump into mobile sellers of stuffed and
fried mussels all over the town. If you like mussels, you can have
a quick feast on the go.
You may also visit the ‘Ağlayan Ağaç Café’ (Weeping Tree Café)
located up the hill which is one of the popular stops in Amasra.
Here, you will find it amazing to watch the Tavşan Adası using
binoculars. The place is very windy, so even in summer you can
enjoy a fine breeze, and should definitely have a sweater with
you, just in case. If you are interested in fresh fruits and vegeta-
bles, you can also wander around the local market.
The region has a small and pretty shopping center. As Amasra is
very famous for its wooden souvenirs, you can buy several wood-
en souvenirs for yourself and your loved ones. They also imprint
the name or picture on the wooden souvenirs, should you prefer.
Amasra has a lot of hotel and pension options to select from.
