A Century of History Immortalized with ''Yüzyıllık İmza'' (Century Signature)

Anadolu Sigorta held the launch event for its book “Yüzyıllık İmza” (Century Signature), prepared in celebration of its 100th anniversary. The work, which documents the journey of insurance in Türkiye—from the Ottoman Empire to the Republic, from major disasters to development initiatives, and from technological transformation to social responsibility projects—not only reflects the company’s history but also reveals the role of insurance in the economic and social development of the Republic.

Anadolu Sigorta organized a promotional meeting for the book “Yüzyıllık İmza” (Century Signature), specially prepared for its 100th anniversary. Starting from the origins of insurance in the world and the earliest traces of insurance during the Ottoman era, the book extends from the founding years of the Republic to today’s digital insurance practices, serving as a comprehensive work of collective memory. The launch event for the book “Yüzyıllık İmza” (Century Signature), the result of nearly two years of meticulous academic work, was attended by the esteemed academics who prepared the book—Prof. Dr. Mehmet Ö. Alkan, Prof. Dr. Murat Birdal, and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Barış Kablamacı—as well as Anadolu Sigorta Chairperson of the Board Füsun Tümsavaş, Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Z. Mehmet Tuğtan, and Anadolu Sigorta Corporate Communications and Sustainability Coordinator Berna Semiz Ergüntan.

The work, which sheds light on Türkiye’s economic, social, and cultural transformation, goes far beyond a mere corporate history narrative. “Yüzyıllık İmza” (Century Signature) features topics such as the founding of Anadolu Sigorta in 1925 under the leadership of Türkiye İş Bankası and with the vision of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the roles the company assumed during earthquakes, fires, and floods that deeply affected the country, and the innovations it introduced to the sector. The book also includes the company’s achievements throughout the history of insurance, its roles in insuring major facilities in Türkiye, and the milestones it has accomplished. Anadolu Sigorta’s social responsibility projects such as “Ormanın Gözleri” (Eyes of the Forest), “Anadolu Sigorta Kütüphaneleri” (Anadolu Sigorta Libraries), “Kurtaran Araç” (Rescue Vehicle), and “Bir Usta Bin Usta” (One Master, a Thousand Apprentices) are also featured in the book, highlighting the company’s contribution not only to the economy but also to the nation’s collective memory.

Füsun Tümsavaş: “Yüzyıllık İmza is the record of the transformation story that began with the founding of our Republic”

Anadolu Sigorta Chairperson of the Board Füsun Tümsavaş said the following in her speech at the event: “‘Yüzyıllık İmza’ (Century Signature) is not merely a work that recounts the chronological history of Anadolu Sigorta. It is also the record of the transformation story that began with the founding of our Republic. As you follow this record, you will journey back in time to discover the origins of insurance in the world, the step-by-step progress of the sector, and the footsteps of an institution evolving in parallel with our country’s economic and social development. In 1925, under the leadership of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, with the vision of Celal Bayar, and with Türkiye İş Bankası as the main shareholder, Anadolu Sigorta was established as a Republic institution. From that day to this, while healing the wounds caused by natural disasters and fires, it has always been at the forefront of our nation’s modernization. The book ‘Yüzyıllık İmza’ (Century Signature), which tells this story, will not only recount the past but also shed light on the future and inspire new generations.”

Z. Mehmet Tuğtan: “The bridge we define as from tradition to the future was built with everyone’s contribution”

Anadolu Sigorta General Manager Z. Mehmet Tuğtan stated in his speech that the company redefined its vision and mission in its 100th year and said: “The book ‘Yüzyıllık İmza’ (Century Signature) represents the transfer of a corporate memory that began with the signature of our Great Leader Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk and grew hand in hand with the development process of our Republic, into the future. I am deeply proud to witness the 100th anniversary of our company as the General Manager.  We are aware that this deep-rooted history brings with it many responsibilities and that we must work even harder. We are the employees of an institution that, since its foundation, has embraced the mission of being the school of insurance, embodying both the values of the past and the vision of the future. During this period, we restructured our mission, vision, and corporate values to align with our second century.  The bridge we define as ‘from tradition to the future’ has been built with the contribution of every one of us—from our most senior colleagues to those with just one year of experience.”

Berna Semiz Ergüntan: “This book is not only a corporate history but also a work of memory that reveals the role of insurance in the economic and social development of the Republic”

Anadolu Sigorta Corporate Communications and Sustainability Coordinator Berna Semiz Ergüntan also spoke about the preparation process of the book and said: “Institutions, just like individuals, need a memory. Without records of the past, lived experiences are forgotten, and values are lost. We wanted Anadolu Sigorta’s hundred-year journey not to remain merely as memories, but to be transferred to future generations through documents, testimonies, and academic precision. This book is not only a corporate history but also a work of memory that reveals the role of insurance in the economic and social development of the Republic.”
