Fibasigorta Offset the Carbon Footprint of the cOmmited Bancassurance Summit

Fibasigorta contributed to a sustainable future by offsetting the carbon footprint of the Bancassurance Summit 2026 in collaboration with the sustainability technology platform cOmmited.

The summit, which brought together approximately 400 participants, generated emissions of 12.64 tCO₂e, which were offset through Gold Standard-certified carbon credits.

The carbon footprint of the event was measured in accordance with internationally recognized GHG Protocol Corporate Standards (Scope 1, 2, and 3) and the BP Target Neutral Events Calculator (v9) methodology. In the calculation, seven emission categories were assessed: air travel, land transportation, public transport, accommodation, food and beverage services, venue energy consumption, and materials and waste management. The offsetting process, carried out at an approximate cost of USD 250, officially brought the event to carbon-neutral status. The per capita emission value, calculated at 31.6 kg CO₂e, corresponds to a carbon load equivalent to approximately 63,200 km of vehicle travel or 8 hours of flight time.

Buket Erşan, Deputy General Manager of Fibasigorta, stated that they position sustainability at the center of all their business models, from product development to collaborations: “This is not our first collaboration with cOmmited; with the ‘Sürdürülebilir Gelecek Ferdi Kaza Sigortası’ (Sustainable Future Personal Accident Insurance) that we previously developed together, we introduced a pioneering model in the sector by integrating carbon offsetting mechanisms into insurance products and contributed to offsetting thousands of tons of carbon emissions in a short period of time. At the same time, we are also developing collaborations that support the circular economy. We insure both new and refurbished electronic devices, and through business models that encourage the longer use of these devices, we contribute to reducing electronic waste while supporting responsible consumption habits. Today, offsetting the carbon footprint of the Bancassurance Summit through our collaboration with cOmmited is a continuation of this holistic approach. Our aim is to make a tangible contribution to a more sustainable future through the transformative power of insurance.”

Levent Köseoğlu, General Manager of cOmmited, stated: “Our collaboration with Fibasigorta demonstrates that sustainability is not merely a commitment confined to corporate reports, but something that can be made tangible in every event, every product, and every business decision. Measuring the carbon footprint of the Bancassurance Summit in line with GHG Protocol standards and offsetting it with Gold Standard-certified credits means implementing transparency and accountability simultaneously. As cOmmited, our goal is to build a business world where such practices become the norm; every step we take with industry-leading partners like Fibasigorta brings us closer to that goal.”

Various mechanisms were put in place to ensure that the carbon-neutral event status was shared transparently with the public and participants. The emission report displayed on the main screens in the coffee break areas at the summit shared both event data and the offsetting process with all participants in real time. Through a QR code, participants were able to directly access the emission report and the voluntary carbon reduction certificate via the commitedevents.app page. This implementation sets an important example in terms of transparency and sustainability reporting in Türkiye’s event industry.
