Support for Special Education in Malatya Through a Partnership Between Türkiye Sigorta and the TOHUM Autism Foundation
Türkiye Sigorta extended its support to the “Every Classroom Is a Seed” project—which the TOHUM Autism Foundation carries out to promote equal opportunities in education—to Malatya. As part of the project, a special education classroom at Abdülhamid Han Middle School in Yeşilyurt, renovated to meet the individual educational needs of students with autism, was officially opened with a ceremony. The opening, which coincided with the 15th Insurance Week, also featured an interactive activity designed to enhance students’ understanding of insurance and risk awareness.
Türkiye Sigorta continues to contribute to the “Every Classroom Is a Seed” project, launched by the TOHUM Autism Foundation to support children with autism in accessing quality education.
As part of the project, Türkiye Sigorta, which contributed to the opening of two special education classrooms at the İsmet Paşa Elementary School in Elazığ last year, also supported the renovation of a special education classroom at the Abdülhamid Han Middle School in Yeşilyurt, Malatya, this year. The classroom, designed with the individual needs of students diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) in mind, was opened for use after being equipped with educational materials and technological resources.
As part of the project, Türkiye Sigorta also contributed to improving the educational conditions for children with ASD as well as other children with special education needs and to providing them with the educational materials they require.
The opening ceremony for the special education classroom was attended by Malatya Governor Seddar Yavuz, Malatya Provincial Director of National Education Behçet Bakır, Yeşilyurt District Governor Hasan Hüseyin Uzan, Yeşilyurt District Director of National Education Caner Güler, Türkiye Sigorta Director of Corporate Communications and Brand Management Selda Çamlıbel Özkoyuncu, officials from the TOHUM Autism Foundation, teachers, students, and parents.
“We consider equal opportunity in education to be one of the fundamental elements of social development”
Highlighting the role of education in shaping the future of individuals and society, Selda Çamlıbel Özkoyuncu, Director of Corporate Communications and Brand Management at Türkiye Sigorta, stated:
“We believe that education is one of the most important tools for individuals to realize their full potential and for societies to strengthen their future. For this reason, we place the utmost importance on ensuring that every child has access to quality educational opportunities tailored to their needs and on strengthening equal opportunities in education. As Türkiye Sigorta, in our initiatives focused on social benefit, we consider it particularly valuable to contribute to the educational journeys of children with diverse needs. Our partnership with the TOHUM Autism Foundation is one concrete example of this approach. Through the ‘Every Classroom Is a Seed’ project, we aim to help children with autism gain access to educational environments that support their learning and development processes, while accompanying them toward a more inclusive future where they can realize their full potential.”
Insurance Awareness for Children During Insurance Week
Türkiye Sigorta also organized an event aimed at developing insurance awareness and risk awareness among children. Commenting on the interactive event—which aimed to help students concretize concepts of safety culture and risk by relating them to areas such as daily life, traffic, and health—Çamlıbel said, “We viewed the fact that our project coincided with Insurance Week this year as a meaningful opportunity for our children to become familiar with the concepts of risk and security at an early age. “We view insurance not merely as a product, but as a mindset that fosters preparedness against risks in various aspects of life and strengthens solidarity; we place great importance on developing this awareness from a young age. Thanks to the interactive activity and digital game designed to foster this awareness, our students experienced insurance awareness in a fun and engaging way,” she stated.
As part of the program, various gifts were also distributed to the students.
